To provide a printer which detects deposition amount of cutting dust with a simple configuration.SOLUTION: A printer 100 includes: a printing section 10 which performs printing on a printing sheet 8; a cutter 11 which cuts the printing sheet 8 in a sheet width direction; a cutting dust storage box 15 which stores cutting dust 14 separated from the printing sheet 8 by cutting with a cutter 11; a deposition amount detection section 26 which detects amount of cutting dust 14 deposited in the cutting dust storage box 15 on the basis of an operation of the cutter 11; a control section 20 (that is a deposition amount determination section 27) which determines whether the deposition amount of cutting dust 14 reaches a predetermined threshold on the basis of a detection result of the deposition amount detection section 26; and a notification section 30 which outputs sound or displays images or characters on the basis of the determination result of the control section 20.
