To provide a thermostat which inhibits variations in responsiveness.SOLUTION: A thermostat includes: a housing having a first opening into which a coolant flows from an engine via a radiator, a second opening into which the coolant flows from the engine without going through the radiator, and a third opening which discharges the coolant to the engine; a temperature sensitive part which is displaced according to a temperature of the coolant and housed in the housing; a valve which opens or closes the first opening by displacement of the temperature sensitive part; a coil spring which biases the valve so as to close the first opening; and a shield wall part which is provided at the valve and encloses at least a part of the temperature sensitive part.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4 【課題】応答性のばらつきが抑制されたサーモスタットを提供できる。【解決手段】エンジンからラジエータを経由して冷却水が流入する第１開口、前記エンジンから前記ラジエータを経由せずに冷却水が流入する第２開口、前記エンジンに冷却水を排出する第３開口、を有したハウジングと、冷却水の温度に応じて変位すると共に前記ハウジングに収納された感温部と、前記感温部の変位により前記第１開口を開閉するバルブと、前記第１開口を閉じるように前記バルブを付勢するコイルバネと、前記バルブに設けられ前記感温部の少なくとも一部を包囲した遮蔽壁部と、を備えたサーモスタット。【選択図】図４
