To provide an article guidance apparatus and an article guidance method, capable of holding an article in a state where a recess is located on a side of a determination unit, or in a state where a recess is located on the side opposite to the determination unit, determining quality of the article, and guiding an article determined to be good.SOLUTION: An article guidance apparatus S includes: a conveyance unit 1 for individually holding and conveying an article P having a recess P1; a determination unit 2 for determining a holding state of the article P being conveyed by the conveyance unit 1; a discharge unit 3 for discharging the article P determined to be defective by the determination unit 2; and a guide unit 4 for guiding the article P determined to be good by the determination unit 2 to a next process. The conveyance unit 1 holds the article P in a state where the recess P1 is located on the determination unit 2 side, or in a state where the recess P1 is located on the side opposite to the determination unit 2.
