To provide a resin capable of giving a such composition that, upon imparting high smoothness to each pixel of a color filter or to a protective film of a pixel, upon forming a protective film on a pixel, or upon further applying a coating material on the protective film, the composition can be used for forming the protective film or allows good application of the coating material.SOLUTION: A fluorine-containing thermally decomposable resin is provided, which has: a main chain (a) having a polymer structure of a polymerizable monomer; a side chain (b) having a fluorinated alkyl group or a side chain having a poly(perfluoroalkylene ether) chain; and a side chain (c) having a functional group represented by general formula (1).
