To provide a retractable mechanical pencil of which both of good writing feeling and convenience are achieved.SOLUTION: A mechanical pencil 100 comprises a barrel 10, a core delivery unit 20 which holds a writing core 21, a weight body 90 which performs a delivery operation for delivering the writing core 21 by an inertial force, and an operation body 40 at least a part of which is exposed outside the barrel 10. The operation body 40 is relatively moved forward with respect to the barrel 10, whereby the core delivery unit 20 can be alternately changed between a writing state that the unit is positioned relatively forward with respect to the barrel 10 and a non-writing state that the unit is positioned relatively backward with respect to the barrel 10. The core delivery unit 20 presses the barrel 10 from the rear when the unit is in the writing state, and delivery of the writing core 21 by the weight body 90 is restricted when the core delivery unit 20 is in the non-writing state.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 【課題】良好な筆記感と利便性とを両立させた出没式のシャープペンシルを提供すること。【解決手段】シャープペンシル１００は、軸筒１０と、筆記芯２１を保持する芯繰出ユニット２０と、慣性力によって筆記芯２１を繰り出す繰り出し操作を行う重量体９０と、少なくとも一部が軸筒１０の外部に露出した操作体４０と、を備えている。操作体４０が軸筒１０に対し前方に相対移動されることにより、芯繰出ユニット２０は、軸筒１０に対し相対的に前方に位置付けられる筆記状態と、軸筒１０に対し相対的に後方に位置付けられる非筆記状態と、に交互に切替可能である。芯繰出ユニット２０は、筆記状態にあるとき、軸筒１０を後方から押圧し、芯繰出ユニット２０が非筆記状態にあるとき、重量体９０による筆記芯２１の繰り出しが制限される。【選択図】図１
