To provide a zoom lens which is compact, light-weight, well corrected for aberrations, and capable of forming images compatible with properties of solid-state image sensors.SOLUTION: A zoom lens comprises, in order from the object side, a first lens group having positive refractive power, a second lens group having negative refractive power, a third lens group having positive refractive power, a fourth lens group having positive refractive power, and a fifth lens group having negative refractive power. When zooming from the wide-angle end to the telephoto end, the first, third, and fifth lens groups are stationary while the second and fourth lens groups move along an optical axis. An aperture stop is fixed to the third lens group.
