To solve the problem in which: deformation may occur in a fixing belt due to heat depending on the material of a base material of the fixing belt.SOLUTION: A fixing device comprises: an endless fixing belt 20; a heat source 21 that heats the fixing belt 20; a nip forming member 22 that is arranged on an inner peripheral side of the fixing belt 20; and an opposing rotating body 23 that is in contact with the nip forming member 22 with the fixing belt 20 therebetween to form a nip part N between the fixing belt 20 and opposing rotating body, wherein the fixing belt 20 is supported while not provided with a tensile force in a circumferential direction in a stationary state; a first member 31 arranged on the inner peripheral side of the fixing belt 20 and a second member 32 arranged on an outer peripheral side of the fixing belt 20 are in contact with each other at a portion other than the nip part N with the fixing belt 20 therebetween.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 【課題】定着ベルトの基材の材料によっては、熱によって定着ベルトに変形が生じる虞がある。【解決手段】無端状の定着ベルト２０と、定着ベルト２０を加熱する加熱源２１と、定着ベルト２０の内周側に配置されたニップ形成部材２２と、定着ベルト２０を介してニップ形成部材２２に接触することにより定着ベルト２０との間にニップ部Ｎを形成する対向回転体２３とを備え、定着ベルト２０が、静止した状態では周方向の張力が付与されない状態で支持される定着装置において、定着ベルト２０の内周側に配置された第一部材３１と、定着ベルト２０の外周側に配置された第二部材３２とが、ニップ部Ｎ以外の箇所で定着ベルト２０を介して互いに接触している。【選択図】図２
