To suppress troublesomeness of an operation by a user when processing relating to a printer is executed.SOLUTION: An external operation device 60 can operate a printer 10 comprising an operation panel 40 having an operation unit 42, and is separate from the printer 10. The external operation device 60 comprises an external operation unit 80 operated by a user, and a controller 90 that causes the printer 10 to execute processing on the basis of an operation mode of the external operation unit 80.
