Zusammenfassung:To provide a method of estimating the CTE of a graphite compact using a calcined coke without evaluating the CTE of a graphite compact obtained by being pulverized, molded, and processed in graphitization, and to also provide a method of choosing a calcined coke suitable as a needle coke with a high orientation used for steel-making electrode manufacturing etc. and a quality control method.SOLUTION: A calcined coke temperature is raised by controlling a temperature-rising speed continuously according to a weight changing speed under an environment of moisture vapor. The CTE is estimated by separating and quantifying carbon qualities with different degrees of crystallization or orientations included in a calcined coke.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7 【課題】か焼コークスを粉砕し、成形、黒鉛化処理を施して得られる黒鉛成形体を用いてCTEを評価することなく、か焼コークスを用いて黒鉛成形体のCTEを推算する方法を提供する。また製鋼用電極製造等に用いられる高配向性のニードルコークスとして適するか焼コークスを選定する方法および品質管理方法を提供する。【解決手段】か焼コークスを水蒸気の存在下で重量変化速度に応じてその昇温速度が連続的に変化するように制御して昇温し、か焼コークスに含まれる結晶化度もしくは配向性の異なる炭素質を分離定量することにより、CTEを推算することによる。【選択図】 図7
