To provide a friction stir welding apparatus and a method capable of eliminating the necessity of a plurality of fixing works and additional fixing tools and thus reducing cycle time and manufacturing cost.SOLUTION: One aspect of the disclosure relates to a friction stir welding apparatus (202) for joining workpiece portions.
