To provide a bill storage device capable of reliably storing a bill in a bill storage portion.SOLUTION: The bill storage device includes: a bill conveying mechanism 10; a bill pushing mechanism 30 performing a pushing operation for storing a bill BL whose rear end portion has passed through an outlet position Pout of a conveyance path CV in a bill storage portion 40; a power source 50 capable of moving in a forward direction and a reverse direction; and a drive mechanism 51 that is coupled to the power source 50, and when the power source 50 operates in the forward direction, causes the bill conveying mechanism 10 to be driven forward so that the bill is transported in the forward direction without operating the bill pushing mechanism 30 and when the power source 50 operates in the reverse direction, causes the bill transport mechanism 30 to perform a pushing operation while causing the bill conveying mechanism 10 to be driven reversely so as to transport the bills in the reverse direction.
