Zusammenfassung:To provide a magnetic head and a magnetic record playback apparatus that can improve recording density.SOLUTION: According to an embodiment, a magnetic head comprises: a magnetic pole that has a first surface; a first shield that is separated from the magnetic pole along a first direction along the first surface; and a laminate that is provided between the magnetic pole and the first shield. The laminate includes: a magnetic layer that contains at least one selected from the group consisting of Fe, Co, and Ni; a non-magnetic first conductive layer that is provided between the magnetic pole and the magnetic layer and in contact with the magnetic pole and the magnetic layer; and a non-magnetic second conductive layer that is provided between the magnetic layer and the first shield and in contact with the magnetic layer and the first shield. The first shield has a first shield surface that is in contact with the second conductive layer.
