To provide a reactive power compensator with a suppressed overall size.SOLUTION: A reactive power compensator 10 includes: a thyristor valve 1a in which three of six thyristor modules 11 to 16 are stacked in three stages; and a thyristor valve 1b which is electrically connected to the thyristor valve 1a and in which three of the six thyristor modules 11 to 16 different from the thyristor valve 1a are stacked in three stages. The thyristor valve 1a includes: a thyristor module 11 constituting a part of a circuit of a UX phase of a reactive power compensating circuit; a thyristor module 16 constituting a part of a circuit of a WZ phase; and a thyristor module 15 constituting a part of the circuit of the WZ phase.
