IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS

To quickly decrease the temperature of a non-contact portion of a member for heating, and shorten the temporary print stop time compared with the prior art.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus comprises a printing unit and a control unit. The printing unit includes a paper feeding unit, an image forming unit, a first conveying unit, a fixing unit, a temperature sensor, and a second conveying unit. In a narrow-width print job printing an image using a narrow-width sheet, the control unit recognizes the temperature of a non-contact portion not in contact with the sheet (non-contact portion temperature), of the peripheral surface of a rotating body for fixing heated by a heater. When the non-contact portion temperature exceeds a blank paper feeding temperature, the control unit causes the paper feeding unit to feed a wide-width sheet having a wider width than that of the narrow-width sheet as a temperature control sheet.
