PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle drive system which, even if a drive unit has failed, allows driving torque or braking torque to act on a vehicle and allows a stable limp-home mode of the vehicle.SOLUTION: The drive system comprises: a first drive system 46 which comprises a first controller 26, a first battery 40, a first drive unit 5, and a fourth drive unit 25; a second drive system 47 which comprises a second controller 27, a second battery 41, a second drive unit 6, and a third drive unit 24; and a determination unit that determines failure of the first drive system 46 and the second drive system 47.
