Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for selecting a solvent for use in a catalyst ink for a fuel cell electrode, which enables the formation of a mixture solution together with water and allows catalyst-holding particles and an ionomer to be dispersed well, and which can be removed in a short time in manufacturing a fuel cell electrode.SOLUTION: The present invention relates to a method for selecting a solvent for forming a mixture solution together with water, causing catalyst-holding particles to adsorb an ionomer in the mixture solution, and dispersing the catalyst-holding particles and the ionomer in manufacturing a fuel cell electrode catalyst ink containing the catalyst-holding particles, ionomer, water and solvent, in which as the solvent, a solvent that satisfies the requirements as described below is selected. (i) The solvent has a boiling point of 100°C or below in a normal condition. In the case of using Hansen parameters (HSP values), (ii) the HSP value difference between the HSP value of the solvent and the HSP value of a hydrophobic part of the ionomer is 11.8 or more, and (iii) the HSP value difference between the HSP value of the solvent and the HSP value of the water is 29.9 or less.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3 【課題】水と一緒に混合溶液を形成することができ、触媒担持粒子及びアイオノマーを良好に分散することができ、さらに燃料電池電極を製造する際に短時間で除去することができる、燃料電池電極用触媒インクに使用するための溶媒の選定方法を提供する。【解決手段】触媒担持粒子、アイオノマー、水、及び溶媒を含む燃料電池電極用触媒インクの製造において、水と一緒に混合溶液を形成し、混合溶液中で触媒担持粒子にアイオノマーを吸着させて触媒担持粒子及びアイオノマーを分散させるための溶媒の選定方法であって、溶媒として、(i)標準状態での沸点が100℃以下であり、ハンセン溶解度パラメーター(HSP値)を使用した場合に、(ii)溶媒のHSP値とアイオノマーの疎水部のHSP値とのHSP値差が11.8以上であり、(iii)溶媒のHSP値と水のHSP値とのHSP値差が29.9以下である、溶媒を選定する、前記方法に関する。【選択図】図3
