Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medium transport device and a printing device that can control decline in the detection accuracy of a medium conveyance amount.SOLUTION: A printer comprises: a transport part that conveys continuous paper P; an imaging part 30 that images the bottom surface of the continuous paper P conveyed by the tranport part; and a control part that detects a conveyance amount of the continuous paper P conveyed by the tranport part on the basis of the images taken by the imaging part 30 and controls the transport part on the basis of the conveyance amount of the continuous paper P. The imaging part 30 includes: an object side lens 34 for imaging the bottom surface of the continuous paper P; a translucent member 32 that is provided above the object side lens 34 and controls adhesion of foreign matters onto the object side lens 34; and a lense barrel cover 40 that supports the continuous paper P above the translucent member 32.
