PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrochromic device that has good optical characteristics and electrical characteristics.SOLUTION: An electrochromic device comprises: a first conductive substrate 1; a first electrochromic layer 3 that is formed in contact with the first conductive substrate 1; a second conductive substrate 2 that is opposed to the first conductive substrate 1; a second electrochromic layer 4 that is formed in contact with the second conductive substrate 2; and an electrolyte layer 5 that has a spacer 6.
