The controller is configured to make an overlapping amount with respect to the variable valve timing mechanism in a transit period where an overlapping amount is controlled in a valve opening period for the intake valve and exhaust valve larger than a preset overlapping amount for each operation phase of the engine upon transferring of operation phase, and when the operation phase is moved to an operation phase as a transfer destination, return it to the preset overlapping amount.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 11
【課題】異なる運転領域に移行する際の可変バルブタイミング機構の作動時におけるポンピングロスを低減して燃費の向上を図る。【解決手段】エンジンの運転領域に対応して、吸気バルブ及び排気バルブの少なくとも一方の開弁又は閉弁タイミングを変更する可変バルブタイミング機構を備えている。制御装置は、運転領域の移行に伴い、可変バルブタイミング機構に対して、吸気バルブ及び排気バルブの開弁期間のオーバラップ量を制御する過渡期におけるオーバラップ量を、エンジンの運転領域ごとにあらかじめ設定されたオーバラップ量よりも大きくし、移行した運転領域に収まった際に、あらかじめ設定されたオーバラップ量に戻す。【選択図】図11 |
