PRINTER AND CONTROL METHOD FOR THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer which interrupts printing onto a label and cuts off the label when there is the possibility that a disturbance in a printing image of the label occurs.SOLUTION: A control section 51 of a printer 1 drives a print head 17 and a conveyance section 30 and performs printing onto labels 5 (a step ST1), when detecting an end edge of a label sheet 6, determines whether or not a rear edge of a label to be printed 5T can be conveyed up to a downstream side from a printing position P2 before a conveyance amount by the conveyance section 30 reaches a predetermined amount N concerning the label to be printed 5T in the middle of the printing out of the labels 5 (a step ST2), when conveyance is determined to be impossible, interrupts the printing onto the label to be printed 5T by the print head 17 (a step ST3), and controls the conveyance section 30, disposes the label to be printed 5T at a cut-off position P3, and cuts off the label to be printed 5T by a cutter mechanism 18 (a step ST4).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4 【課題】ラベルの印刷画像に乱れが発生する可能性がある場合に、ラベルへの印刷を中断して当該ラベルを切断する印刷装置提供すること。【解決手段】プリンター１の制御部５１は、印刷ヘッド１７および搬送部３０を駆動してラベル５に印刷を行い（ステップＳＴ１）、ラベル用紙６の終端を検出したときに、ラベル５のうち印刷途中の印刷対象ラベル５Ｔについて、搬送部３０による搬送量が所定量Ｎに達する前に当該印刷対象ラベル５Ｔの後端を印刷位置Ｐ２よりも下流側まで搬送可能か判定し（ステップＳＴ２）、搬送が可能でないと判定された場合に、印刷ヘッド１７による印刷対象ラベル５Ｔへの印刷を中断し（ステップＳＴ３）、搬送部３０を制御して印刷対象ラベル５Ｔを切断位置Ｐ３に配置してカッター機構１８により当該印刷対象ラベル５Ｔを切断する（ステップＳＴ４）。【選択図】図４
