PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inorganic fiber compact high in inter layer peeling strength, a production process and apparatus thereof, a mat for an exhaust gas rinsing apparatus using the inorganic fiber compact and the exhaust gas rinsing apparatus.SOLUTION: An inorganic fiber compact consists of mat-like aggregate 1 of inorganic fiber, and has needle traces extending in a direction including the thickness direction of the mat-like aggregate. At the needle trace, at least one part of the fiber is connected with each other in a spiral.
