PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide highly reliable electrolyte solution for a battery, which has been desired in the conventional art.SOLUTION: Electrolyte solution for a battery comprises: a nonaqueous solvent; and an alkali metal salt dissolved in the nonaqueous solvent. The nonaqueous solvent further includes fluoro formic acid ester represented by a general formula (1). In the formula, Rf is a saturated aliphatic group represented by a molecular formula, CHF(where x, y and z are integers, and satisfy 1≤x, 0≤y, 1≤z), an unsaturated aliphatic group or an aromatic group.
