PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluorine-free water-repellent composition that makes it possible to obtain a water-repellent fiber product that is excellent in water repellency, water-repellent durability, and water permeation prevention.SOLUTION: A water-repellent composition contains a fluorine-free polymer containing a constitutional unit derived from a (meth) acrylate monomer (A) represented by formula (A-1), and a hydrophobic compound represented by formula (1) and/or formula (2): R[-W-R][-V-R(-Z)](1) and R[-W-R][-W-R] (2).
