Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display element applicable for such purposes requiring high transmissivity, particularly a transmissive liquid crystal display device, and achieving a novel display medium.SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display element includes a first transparent insulation substrate having a pixel electrode and a second transparent insulation substrate having a common electrode, disposed to oppose to each other at a given interval, and a light-control layer comprising a polymer matrix and a liquid crystal composition disposed between the two substrates or on the first transparent insulation substrate having a pixel electrode and a common electrode. The polymer matrix has a nano cavity in a size of 20 to 400 nm; and the liquid crystal composition comprises a compound represented by formula (G). In the formula, Rrepresents an alkyl group or the like; Aand Aeach independently represent a cyclohexylene ring, a phenylene ring or the like; Zrepresents a single bond, -CH=CH- or the like; and nrepresents an integer of 2 to 4.SELECTED DRAWING: None
