IMPROVEMENT OF TEAR FILM STABILITY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel method for stabilizing a tear film or for improving the stability of a tear film in an individual having an ocular surface inflammatory disorder; and a novel method of treating one or more conditions or symptoms associated with an ocular surface inflammatory disorder, particularly posterior blepharitis, or generally posterior blepharitis.SOLUTION: According to the present invention, there is provided a method for stabilizing a tear film, the method comprising reducing the synthesis of a cholesterol by a meibum-producing tissue, which is the layer of the outermost surface of the tear film that forms a perfectly smooth liquid outer layer that polishes the corneal surface; mechanically captures and flushes foreign matters and chemical substances; contains bacteriostatic substances that inhibit the growth of microorganisms; and plays a role in reducing surface friction associated with eyelid blinking and eye movement.SELECTED DRAWING: None 【課題】眼表面炎症性疾患を有する個人において、涙膜を安定化する、又は、涙膜の安定性を改善する新たな手法、および眼表面炎症性疾患、特に後部眼瞼炎、又は概して後部眼瞼炎に関連した１つ以上の状態又は症状を処置する新たな手法の提供。【解決手段】角膜表面を磨く完全に滑らかな液体外側層を形成し、異物及び化学物質を機械的に捕捉及び流し出し、微生物の増殖を阻害する静菌性物質を含み、また、眼瞼の瞬き及び眼の動きに関連した表面摩擦を低減する役割を担う涙膜の最も外側の表面の層であるマイバムを産生する組織によるコレステロールの合成を低減することによって涙膜を安定化する、方法。【選択図】なし
