Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device having good adhesiveness between a sealing material and a base material even when subjected to a photo-alignment treatment.SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device includes an array substrate and a counter substrate spaced from and opposing to the array substrate, in which the substrates are bonded by a frame-like sealing material, interposing a liquid crystal layer therebetween. Portions of the array substrate and the counter substrate in contact with the sealing material are formed of a polyimide having no light-absorbing groups. An alignment film having two vertically separated layers is formed on each of an inner surface of the array substrate and the counter substrate, in which the lower layer in the alignment film is formed of a polyimide having no light-absorbing group, and the upper layer in the alignment film is formed of a polyimide having a light-absorbing group.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 【課題】光配向処理を受けても、シール材と下地との接着性が良好な液晶表示装置を提供すること。【解決手段】アレイ基板とアレイ基板と離間対向して配置された対向基板とを備え、両基板は、液晶層を介在させて、枠状のシール材により結合され、アレイ基板及び対向基板のシール材と接する部位は、光吸収基を持たないポリイミドで形成され、枠状のシール材の内側において、アレイ基板及び対向基板のそれぞれの内側表面に上下２層に分離した配向膜がそれぞれ形成され、各配向膜の下層は、光吸収基を持たないポリイミドで形成され、各配向膜の上層は、光吸収基を持つポリイミドで形成されている。【選択図】図２
