PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image carrier protective agent that can suppress squeaking of a blade, protects image carriers, prevents contamination of charging means, and has improved cleanability.SOLUTION: There is provided an image carrier protective agent containing a fatty acid metal salt and an inorganic lubricant, where the inorganic lubricant contains a first inorganic lubricant having a number average primary particle diameter of 1.0 μm or less and a second inorganic lubricant having a number average primary particle diameter of 2.0 μm or more.
