A glucose skeleton of the cellulose derivative has at least a substituent group having a multiple bond, and an alkoxy group, where the substituent group with the multiple bond exhibits a maximum absorption wavelength in a range of 220 to 400 nm, inclusive, and in-plane retardation R(550) in a range of 90 nm to 200 nm, inclusive.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
