Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide methods for prognosis and treatment of cancers associated with protein kinases.SOLUTION: The invention provides a method for identifying a subject in which epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) is occurring, the method comprising a step of determining the Akt3 expression or activity level in a sample derived from the subject, where the increase in the Akt3 expression or activity level indicates the occurrence of EMT. Also provided is a use of Akt3 as a biomarker for detecting EMT in a subject as well as a use of an Akt3 inhibitor for treating cancer. Also provided is a method for detecting the occurrence of EMT in a subject by determining Akt3 expression and/or activity.
