PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer which detects an accumulation amount of paper scraps with a simple structure.SOLUTION: A printer 100 includes: a printing part 10 which makes prints on each print sheet 8; a cutter 11 which cuts the print sheet 8 in a sheet width direction; a paper scrap storage box 15 which stores paper scraps 14 cut and separated from the print sheet 8 by the cutter 11; an accumulation amount detection part 26 which detects an amount of the paper scraps 14 accumulated in the paper scrap storage box 15 on the basis of operation of the cutter 11; a control part 20 (i.e., an accumulation amount determination part 27) which determines if an accumulation amount of the paper scraps 14 reaches a predetermined threshold value on the basis of a detection result of the accumulation amount detection part 26; and a notification part 30 which outputs sounds or displays images or characters on the basis of a determination result of the control part 20.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 【課題】本発明は簡易な構成で切断屑の堆積量を検出する印刷装置の提供を目的とする。【解決手段】印刷装置１００は、印刷用紙８に印刷を行う印刷部１０と、印刷用紙８を用紙幅方向に切断するカッタ１１と、カッタ１１による切断によって印刷用紙８から切り離された切断屑１４を収納する切断屑収納箱１５と、カッタ１１の動作に基づいて切断屑収納箱１５に堆積した切断屑１４の量を検出する堆積量検出部２６と、堆積量検出部２６の検出結果に基づいて、切断屑１４の堆積量が予め定められた閾値に達したかどうかを判定する制御部２０（即ち堆積量判断部２７）と、制御部２０の判定結果に基づいて、音声の出力、あるいは画像又は文字の表示を行う通知部３０と、を備える。【選択図】図１
