PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new label printer which can suppress stagnation in the sticking work due to label jam to the minimum level by early detecting conveyance failure in a case of continuously issuing a plurality of labels in a sheet state while making the best use of the advantage of a mountless label.SOLUTION: A label printer includes: a temporarily-attaching part which holds a label cut out from a mountless label and overlaps a tip of a following label on a rear end of the held label; a label detection part which irradiates the labels held by the temporarily-attaching part with light and detects the edge of the overlapped portion of the labels from the transmitted light; an abnormal detection part which detects the conveyance abnormality of the labels from the abnormality in the appearance pattern of the edge; and a print control part which stops feeding of the mountless label when detecting the conveyance abnormality of the labels.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 【課題】台紙レスラベルの利点を活かしながら、複数枚のラベルをシート状に連ねて発行する場合の搬送不良を早期に検出して、ラベルが詰まることによる貼り付け作業の停滞を最小限に止めることのできる新たなラベルプリンタを提供する。【解決手段】台紙レスラベルから切り出されるラベルを保持するとともに、保持されたラベルの後端部に後続ラベルの先端部を重ね合わせる仮着部と、該仮着部に保持される前記ラベルに光を照射し、その透過光からラベルの重なり部分のエッジを検出するラベル検出部と、前記エッジの出現パターンの異常から前記ラベルの搬送異常を検出する異常検出部と、ラベルの搬送異常が検出された場合に、前記台紙レスラベルの送りを停止する印字制御部とを備える。【選択図】図１
