Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a centering device and centering method that can stably implement centering without applying external force to a detection rotor outer peripheral part in assembling a rotation position detector.SOLUTION: By an eccentricity detection resolver stator 30, eccentricity between a detection rotor W1 and a rotation axis W3 is detected. By an impact force imparting mechanism 4, a structure body is moved, and the detection rotor W1 abutting against the structure body is concurrently moved due to a friction engagement to thereby implement a centering operation of modifying the eccentricity.
