IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS

PURPOSE: To determine, when sheets on which images are to be formed are fed to the apparatus, whether designated sheets are fed or multi feed occurs, and satisfactorily perform subsequent image formation.CONSTITUTION: There is provided an image forming apparatus forming images on sheets by using an electrophotographic system, the image forming apparatus comprising: length detection means that detects the length of the sheets; fixing means that thermally fixes images to the sheets; temperature detection means that detects the state of a change in temperature of the fixing means; and determination means that determines whether the sheets are multi-fed on the basis of the state of a change in temperature of the fixing means when images are thermally fixed to the sheets, the state detected by the temperature detection means and the length of the sheets to be conveyed detected by the length detection means.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4 【目的】画像形成するシートを装置に給送したとき、指定したシートが給送されたのか、重送が発生したのかを判定し、以降の画像形成を良好に行う。【構成】電子写真方式でシートに画像を形成する画像形成装置において、前記シートの長さを検出する長さ検出手段と、画像を前記シートに熱定着するための定着手段と、前記定着手段の温度変化の状態を検出する温度検出手段と、前記温度検出手段が検出する前記シートを熱定着する際の前記定着手段の温度変化の状態と、前記長さ検出手段が検出する搬送されるシートの長さに基づいて、前記シートが重送しているのかを判定する判定手段とを有する画像形成装置。【選択図】 図４
