PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transportation unit capable of accurately acquiring a transportation amount of a medium transported, and a printer provided with the transportation unit and a transportation amount acquisition method.SOLUTION: A transportation unit comprises: a transportation section transporting continuous form paper by a transportation roller in a transportation direction intersecting with an axial direction of the transportation roller; an imaging section 32 having a plurality of light receiving elements 34 arranged in each direction of a first direction A intersecting with the axial direction and a second direction B intersecting with the first direction A and imaging the continuous form paper transported by the transportation section; and a transportation amount acquisition section 39 acquiring a transportation amount of the continuous form paper in the transportation direction on the basis of an image imaged by the imaging section 32.
