PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate limitations on design which result from a retaining function when the retaining function is not used and properly retain a retained object regardless of the size and shape of the retained object when the retaining function is used.SOLUTION: A retainer includes: a deformable member 10; object detection means (detection means) which detects a shape of a beverage container 50 (a retained object); and control means which sends a signal for deforming the deformable member on the basis of information detected by the object detection means. The deformable member receives the signal of the control means and is deformed into a shape having a retaining part 60 which corresponds to the shape of the beverage container which is detected by the object detection means.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6 【課題】保持機能の非使用状態では、保持機能に起因する意匠性上の制約なくし、かつ、保持機能の使用状態では、保持対象物のサイズや形状によらず保持対象物を適正に保持する。【解決手段】保持装置は、変形可能な変形部材１０と、飲料容器５０（保持対象物）の形状を検知する対象物検知手段（検知手段）と、対象物検知手段が検知した情報に基づいて、変形部材を変形させるための信号を送る制御手段と、を備えている。変形部材は、制御手段の信号を受けて、対象物検知手段が検知した飲料容器の形状に対応した保持部６０を有する形状に変形する。【選択図】図６
