Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal device including a ferroelectric liquid crystal panel that operates with the response speed and switching angle satisfying required performance in a use temperature range.SOLUTION: A liquid crystal device comprises: a ferroelectric liquid crystal panel 10 that operates at a predetermined switching angle and response speed; a sensor 60 that measures temperature; a driving circuit 20 that supplies a driving voltage VD to the ferroelectric liquid crystal panel 10; a waveform generation circuit 30 that supplies a waveform signal P5 to the driving circuit 20; and a control circuit 40 that controls the waveform generation circuit 30. The driving circuit 20 outputs a first positive voltage during a first period of a first frame of the driving voltage, outputs a second positive voltage in a second period for a longer period of time than in the first period, outputs a first negative voltage in a first period of a second frame, and outputs a second negative voltage in a second period for a longer period of time than in the first period.
