Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a xanthene-based dye intermediate compound that has a low reaction temperature, a short reaction time, a good workability, as well as yet is also friendly to the environment.SOLUTION: Provided is a method for producing xanthene-based compound represented by formula (3), or a salt thereof, by heat reacting a resorcin and at least one kind compound selected from o-sulfobenzoic acid imide, o-sulfo benzaldehyde salt and o-sulfobenzoic acid cyclic anhydride, in a particular sulfonic acid such as methane sulfonic acid.SELECTED DRAWING: None 【課題】反応温度が低温で、反応時間が短く、作業性が良好で、なお且つ環境にも優しいキサンテン系色素中間体である化合物の製造方法の提供。【解決手段】メタンスルホン酸のような特定のスルホン酸中で、レゾルシンと、o−スルホ安息香酸イミド、o−スルホベンズアルデヒド塩及び、o−スルホ安息香酸環状無水物から選択される少なくとも１種類の化合物とを加熱反応させる式（３）で表されるキサンテン系化合物又はその塩の製造方法。【選択図】なし
