Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable an image reading device which detects a document size by using both-side images, to realize equal detection accuracy even in a case where one-side reading is set.SOLUTION: When executing reading of a one-side image, the image reading device which detects a document size from a shadow portion projected in two pieces of image information of the front side and the rear side executes reading of the image of an area in which the shadow of the end of an unnecessary side is projected, and uses the image of the end for detection of the document size, thereby realizing the accurate detection of the document size.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4 【課題】両面画像を利用して、原稿のサイズを検出する画像読取装置において、片面読取設定時でも同等の検出精度を実現する。【解決手段】表裏二つの画像情報に映し出された影部から原稿のサイズを検出する画像読取装置において、片面画像の読取を実行する際に、不要な面における端部の影が映し出される領域の画像読取を実行し、その端部の画像を原稿サイズの検出に用いることにより、正確な原稿サイズの検出を実現する。【選択図】図4
