Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-pressure discharge lamp and ultraviolet-ray irradiation device such that an air cooling system cannot be employed, an electric conductive wire is arranged as a proximity conductor so as to suppress cracking.SOLUTION: A high-pressure discharge lamp 10 according to an embodiment comprises an airtight container 11, a pair of electrodes 12, 12, an enclosure 13, and an electric conductive wire 14. The airtight container 11 has a discharge space 111, which transmits ultraviolet rays. The pair of electrodes 12, 12 are provided at both ends of the airtight container 11 respectively and arranged having one-end sides opposed to each other in the airtight container 11. The enclosure 13 includes at least a rare gas and mercury, and is charged in the airtight container 11. The electric conductive wire 14 is at least partially brought into contact with an outer peripheral surface 11a of the airtight container 11 and wound in a tensed state around the outer peripheral surface 11a of the airtight container 11 along a direction in which the pair of electrodes 12, 12 extend, the coefficient of thermal expansion being not more than 25 times the coefficient of thermal expansion of the airtight container 11.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
