PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing device, a processing method, a formation device, and a processing program that prevent an object at a peripheral edge part of an image from sticking out of a printing range.SOLUTION: An image formation device comprises a thinning-out processing unit 23 which detects an edge value indicating strength of an edge component of each pixel of image data, and thins out pixels in such a path that a total of edge values is minimum among paths of pixels connecting one end to the other end of an image so as to convert a longitudinal/lateral ratio of the image.EFFECT: The longitudinal/lateral ratio of the image can be converted while an apparent feeling of incompatibility is suppressed by thinning out pixels of a region where the intensity of an edge component is low, thereby preventing an object at a peripheral edge part of the image form sticking out of a printing range.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 【課題】画像の周縁部のオブジェクトが印刷範囲からはみ出すことを防止する画像処理装置、処理方法、形成装置及び処理プログラムを提供する。【解決手段】画像形成装置は、画像データにおける各画素のエッジ成分の強度を示すエッジ値を検出し、画像の一端部から他端部までを連結する画素の経路のうち、エッジ値の合計値が最小になる経路上の画素を間引き処理することによって画像の縦横比を変換する間引き処理部２３を備える。【効果】エッジ成分の強度が低い領域の画素を間引くことにより、見た目の違和感を抑えつつ画像の縦横比を変換することができ、画像の周縁部のオブジェクトが印刷範囲からはみ出してしまうことを防止できる。【選択図】図１
