Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tandem image formation device and an abnormality detection method which can specify toner image formation means where such an abnormality that toner adheres to a latent image carrier occurs under an imaging condition of a blank image while suppressing cost increase.SOLUTION: In a printer 10 being a tandem image formation device, a control part drives a plurality of process units 30 under an imaging condition corresponding to a blank image where toner is prevented from adhering onto a photoreceptor 60, executes initial agent setting control being blank image formation control for driving a primary transfer roller 130 and an intermediate transfer belt 50, and specifies the process unit 30 in which toner having a toner adhesion amount equal to or greater than a prescribed amount adheres onto the photoreceptor 60 on the basis of the time from the start of initial agent setting control to detection of the toner adhesion amount equal to or greater than the prescribed amount when a photosensor 300 detects the toner adhesion amount equal to or greater than the prescribed amount on the intermediate transfer belt 50 during execution of the initial agent setting control.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 【課題】タンデム型の画像形成装置で、コストの増加を抑制しつつ、白紙画像の作像条件で潜像担持体にトナーが付着する異常が生じたトナー像形成手段を特定することができる画像形成装置及びその異常検知方法を提供する。【解決手段】タンデム型の画像形成装置であるプリンタ10において、制御部は感光体60上にトナーを付着させない白紙画像に対応した作像条件で複数のプロセスユニット30を駆動し、且つ、一次転写ローラ130及び中間転写ベルト50を駆動する白紙画像形成制御である初期剤設定制御を実行し、初期剤設定制御を実行中にフォトセンサ300が中間転写ベルト50上で所定量以上のトナー付着量を検出した場合には、初期剤設定制御の開始から所定量以上のトナー付着量を検出するまでの時間に基づいて、所定量以上のトナー付着量となるトナーを感光体60上に付着させたプロセスユニット30を特定する。【選択図】図1
