Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device and electronic equipment, which give a wide view angle even to an observer wearing sunglasses and can suitably display an image in a wide angle range.SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device includes a first alignment layer and a second alignment layer both having a pretilt angle of 0 degree or more and 1 degree or less. A plurality of openings having an aspect ratio of larger than 1 is formed in at least one of a pixel electrode and a common electrode in such a manner that the openings are arranged in the transverse direction thereof with the longitudinal direction aligned to the transverse direction of the pixel. The first alignment layer and the second alignment layer have an alignment axis along the longitudinal direction of the opening. A first polarizing plate has an absorption axis parallel to the alignment axis. A retardation plate is made of a biaxially oriented film, having a retardation axis parallel to the alignment axis. A second polarizing plate has an absorption axis orthogonal to the alignment axis. A reflective polarizing film has a transmission axis parallel to the alignment axis. A luminance enhancement film has a luminance enhancement axis parallel to the alignment axis.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7
