Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multilayer coating structure of a sliding member such as a plain bearing in an internal combustion engine, for example, exhibiting one of a plurality of excellent fatigue resistance and excellent abrasion resistance, appropriate seizure resistance, and other necessary properties for current various internal combustion engine applications.SOLUTION: A plain bearing according to the present invention includes a back metal layer 11; a bearing metal layer 12; an arbitrary intermediate layer 13; and a coat 14 The coat 14 includes a plurality of layers disposed to be stacked. The plurality of layers include two or more relatively soft, soft layers 14a, and one or a plurality of relatively hard, hard layers 14b. The soft layers and the hard layers are alternately disposed, each soft layer contains a metal or an alloy, and each hard layer contains one or a plurality of types of intermetallic compounds.
