【課題】動きベクトルの探索精度を高めること。【解決手段】第1の記憶部10が記憶する動画像に含まれる複数の画像のうち、符号化の際に第1の記憶部10から読み出された画像の画像領域を記憶する第2の記憶部21と、画像に含まれる画像領域の符号化に用いる参照領域の探索範囲を特定する際の基準となる起点領域BAに関する情報22aを記憶する第3の記憶部22と、符号化の対象とする複数の画像領域について、対応する起点領域BAの全体と第2の記憶部21が記憶している画像領域APとが重複しない領域を特定し、当該重複しない領域の大きさに基づく指標が、設定された第1の閾値Th1を超えない範囲で起点領域BAを拡大し、拡大後の重複しない範囲を第1の記憶部10から読み出す対象とする演算部23と、を有する、動画像符号化装置20が提供される。【選択図】図1 |
