Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silica sol capable of easily achieving a thin film excellent in gas barrier property, hard coat property, and transparency.SOLUTION: A silica sol containing a spherical silica particle with an average particle diameter of 3 to 300 nm and a tabular silica is manufactured. The tabular silica is a rectangle body with the long side of 0.5 to 10 μm, the short side of 100 to 500 nm, and thickness of 1 to 30 nm, and is contained in the silica sol at 1 to 10 wt.% as a SiOsolid content. This provides a thin film good in barrier effect, hardness, and transparency. Especially it is preferable that the long side of the tabular silica is 0.5 to 5 μm and an aspect ratio (long side/short side) of the tabular silica is in a range of 1 to 30. 【課題】ガスバリア性、ハードコート性、及び透明性に優れた薄膜が容易に実現できるシリカゾルを提供する。【解決手段】平均粒子径が3〜300nmの球状シリカ粒子と、板状シリカを含むシリカゾルを作製した。ここで、板状シリカは長辺が0.5〜10μm、短辺が100〜500nm、厚みが1〜30nmの矩形体であり、この板状シリカはSiO2固形分として該シリカゾルに1〜10重量%含まれている。これにより、バリア効果、硬さ、透明性のいずれも良好な薄膜が得られる。特に、板状シリカの長辺が0.5〜5μmであることが好ましく、板状シリカのアスペクト比(長辺/短辺)は1〜30の範囲がよい。【選択図】なし
