Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting device less in deterioration over time of a reflective layer and also capable of sufficiently extracting light from a side surface of a light emitting element, and a method for manufacturing the light emitting device.SOLUTION: A light emitting device includes: a substrate; a light emitting element mounted on a mounting region of the substrate; a liquid repellent layer formed at a peripheral part of the mounting region of the substrate; and a reflective layer formed on the substrate and the outer circumference of the liquid repellent layer. A method for manufacturing the light emitting device includes the steps of: forming a liquid repellent layer on a surface of a substrate at a peripheral part of a mounting region of a light emitting element; and applying a reflective layer formation composition on the substrate and outside the liquid repellent layer to form a reflective layer.
