PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus configured to prevent misregistration of a primarily transferred toner image, due to vibration generated when a medium is nipped at a transfer nip.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus 10 includes: an endless transfer body 36 circularly moved by a driving body 32D in contact with an inner circumferential surface, to secondarily transfer a primarily transferred toner image to a medium P; first transfer sections 22M, 22C, 22K each rotating around its own axial center and primarily transferring a toner image to the transfer body 36; and a second transfer section 22Y which is arranged upstream of the first transfer sections 22M, 22C, 22K in a circulation direction A of the transfer body 36 and downstream of a section 72, where the driving body 32D comes into contact with an inner circumferential surface of the transfer body 36, in the circulation direction A, has an inertial mass larger than those of the first transfer sections 22M, 22C, 22K, rotates around its own axial center, and primarily transfers the toner image to the transfer body 36. 【課題】本発明の画像形成装置は、媒体が転写ニップで挟まれる際に生じる振動に起因する１次転写されたトナー像のずれを抑えることである。【解決手段】画像形成装置１０は、内周面に接触する駆動体３２Ｄに駆動されて周回移動しながら、１次転写されたトナー像を媒体Ｐに２次転写する無端状の転写体３６と、自軸中心に回転し、転写体３６にトナー像を１次転写する第１転写部２２Ｍ、２２Ｃ、２２Ｋと、第１転写部２２Ｍ、２２Ｃ、２２Ｋより転写体３６の周回移動方向Ａ上流側、且つ、駆動体３２Ｄが転写体３６の内周面に接触する部位７２より周回移動方向Ａ下流側に設けられ、第１転写部２２Ｍ、２２Ｃ、２２Ｋより慣性質量が大きく、自軸中心に回転し、転写体３６にトナー像を１次転写する第２転写部２２Ｙと、を備えた。【選択図】図３
