Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rechargeable battery having improved safety with respect to longitudinal compression.SOLUTION: A rechargeable battery includes: an electrode assembly including a first electrode, a second electrode, and a separator located between the first electrode and the second electrode; an accommodation case having a space for accommodating the electrode assembly; a cap plate attached to an opening formed in the accommodation case; and an insulation case located between the cap plate and the electrode assembly, the insulation case having a base and a side wall protruding from the base, the side wall including avoiding portions with openings. 【課題】本発明は、縦圧縮力に対する安全性が向上した二次電池を提供する。【解決手段】本発明の一態様にかかる二次電池は、第１電極、第２電極、および第１電極と第２電極との間に介在したセパレータを有する電極アセンブリと、前記電極アセンブリが収納される空間を有する収納ケースと、前記収納ケースに形成された開口に取り付けられたキャッププレートと、前記キャッププレートと前記電極アセンブリとの間に設けられ、ベースと、前記ベースから突出した側壁とを有する絶縁ケースとを含み、前記側壁には、開口した回避部が形成される。【選択図】図１
