PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a friction welding method, and the like capable of facilitating repair work and appropriately welding a base material to a repair material.SOLUTION: A friction welding method includes: a frictional heating step of pressure-welding a repair material 11 to a repair-target tip fin 24 of a moving blade 10, allowing the pressure-welded repair material 11 to make a linearly reciprocating motion relative to the tip fin 24, and generating frictional heat between the tip fin 24 and the repair material 11, thereby softening the tip fin 24 and the repair material 11 by frictional heating; and a pressure welding step of pressure-welding the repair material 11 to the tip fin 24 at a higher pressure than that in the frictional heating step, after the frictional heating step, and welding the tip fin 24 to the repair material 11. 【課題】補修作業を容易なものとし、母材と補修材とを好適に接合することができる摩擦接合方法等を提供する。【解決手段】摩擦接合方法は、補修対象となる動翼１０のチップフィン２４に対して補修材１１を圧接させ、圧接させた補修材１１をチップフィン２４に対して直線往復運動させて、チップフィン２４と補修材１１との間に摩擦熱を発生させることで、チップフィン２４及び補修材１１を摩擦加熱して軟化させる摩擦加熱工程と、摩擦加熱工程後、チップフィン２４に対して補修材１１を摩擦加熱工程のときよりも圧接して、チップフィン２４と補修材１１とを接合する圧接工程とを備える。【選択図】図１０
