Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic transmission which properly reduces the size of a component such as a sun gear of a planetary gear mechanism while avoiding a malfunction such as the complication of a structure, and thereby is suitably reducible in the size and weight of the transmission as a whole.SOLUTION: An automatic transmission A comprises: a first clutch C1 which is disposed in a position at an input side rather than a planetary gear mechanism P, and drive-connected to a first sun gear S1 via a first hollow shaft 3a; a second clutch C2 which is disposed in a position at an output side rather than the planetary gear mechanism P, and drive-connected to a carrier CR; and a third clutch C3 which is drive-connected to a second sun gear S2 via a second hollow shaft 3b. The third clutch C3 is disposed in a position at an output side rather than the planetary gear mechanism P, and the second hollow shaft 3b is displaced in position from the first hollow shaft 3a in an axial length direction of an input shaft 1. 【課題】構造の複雑化などの不具合を回避しつつ、遊星歯車機構のサンギヤなどの構成部品の小型化を適切に図り、もって全体の小型・軽量化などをも好適に図ることが可能な自動変速機を提供する。【解決手段】遊星歯車機構Pよりも入力側の位置に設けられ、かつ第1中空軸3aを介して第1サンギヤS1に駆動連結された第1クラッチC1と、遊星歯車機構Pよりも出力側の位置に設けられてキャリヤCRに駆動連結された第2クラッチC2と、第2中空軸3bを介して第2サンギヤS2に駆動連結された第3クラッチC3と、を備えている、自動変速機Aであって、第3クラッチC3は、遊星歯車機構Pよりも出力側の位置に設けられ、第2中空軸3bは、入力軸1の軸長方向において第1中空軸3aとは位置ずれしている。【選択図】 図1
